CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan honors 172 barangays in the province who excelled in their efforts of maintaining cleanliness and orderliness throughout the year during the 2018 Gawad Parangal para sa Kalinisan at Kaayusan ng Kapaligiran o KKK sa Barangay held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium today.

Awardees were given certificates of recognition and P20,000 for the 14 first placers, P15,000 for the 56 second placers and P10,000 for the 102 third placer barangays.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that he was grateful that barangay officials in Bulacan are supportive of the province’s agenda to preserve a clean environment.

“To be able to sustain development kinakailangan malinis at maayos ang kapaligiran. Habang patungo tayo sa ganap na pagbabago, kayo ang first line of defense at kinikilala natin ang lahat ng inyong mga pagsisikap mula ng inilunsad ito noong 2014,” Alvarado said.

Former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, guest speaker took the chance to deliver the good news of having a Malasakit Center at the Bulacan Medical Center which promotes zero billing hospitalization and ease to the Filipino people.

“Napakaganda ng inyong ospital kaya maging proud kayo, this is a proof na kapag gagamitin talaga ng inyong officials ang pera sa tama, magkakaroon talaga ng resulta. I am really impressed,” Go shared.

Meanwhile, Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando acknowledged the efforts of his fellow public servants along with the volunteers for progress would not be possible without them.

“Ang lahat ng nakikita nating pag-unlad sa lalawigan ay dahil sa inyo, kayo po ang kaagapay namin, at kaagapay ng bawat mamamayan ng Bulacan. Hindi na aabutan ng susunod na henerasyon ang paligid na kinalakihan at inenjoy natin noon kung hindi natin ito iniingatan ngayon, salamat sa inyo,” Fernando said.

According to the Provincial Administrator’s Office, barangays were rated based on cleanliness, 50% of the overall criteria- 15% for clean roads and sidewalks; another 15% for the clean canal and rivers, well-maintained drainage and sewage system; and 20% for systematic and effective garbage collection, while another 50% for their orderliness-15% for the absence of eyesores such as old streamers, advertisement or election posters, dilapidated structures and construction debris; another 15% for having place for trees, mangrove and vegetable planting; and 20% for a clean barangay hall with systematic record and data keeping.

After the awarding ceremony, Barangay and provincial officials shared a sumptuous meal as an early Christmas celebration. They also received gift packs from the PGB.
