'Bato' underscores 24/7 duties of solo parents

CITY OF MALOLOS - With so much appreciation and admiration for the solo parents, guest of honor former Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa highlighted the immeasurable efforts of the solo parents who continuously take care of their family 24/7.

In front of 1,300 solo parents and 480 Child Development Workers who flocked The Pavilion in Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center here yesterday for the “Pangkalahatang Pagtitipon ng Solo Parents sa Lalawigan ng Bulacan at Pamamahagi ng mga Instructional Material sa mga Child Development Worker”, the retired police director said that solo parents have a soft spot in his heart and that he truly admires them.

“24 oras na serbisyo, 24 na proteksiyon, 24 oras na pagmamahal, iyan ang dapat na ibigay sa inyong lahat na narito, lalo na sa ating mga solo parents na mag isang itinataguyod ang kanilang mga anak, ang kanilang buong pamilya,” Dela Rosa said.

According to Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office Head Rowena J. Tiongson, the yearly general assembly aims to show to the solo parents that they are valued and not forgotten by the Provincial Government of Bulacan.

“Yearly event ito, general assembly ng solo parents kung saan tinatalakay natin ‘yung mga benepisyo ng mga solo parents sa lalawigan ng Bulacan, tsaka tinatalakay din natin ‘yung nilalaman ng Republic Act 8972. At since Valentine’s Day din, dahil nga mga solo parents sila, ipinapakita rin natin dito na hindi sila nag-iisa, hindi sila nagsosolo dahil nandito ang Provincial Government ng Bulacan through the leadership of Governor Willy and Vice Governor Daniel na handang umalalay at sumuporta sa kanila,” Tiongson said.

Furthermore, Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Vice Governor Daniel R. Fernando led the distribution of 1,138 grocery bags for the solo parents and 480 instructional materials for the Child Development Workers.

Fernando also expressed his appreciation to the solo parents and assured them the PGB will always support them.

“Napakahalaga po ng araw na ito para sa ating lahat lalo na sa ating mga solo parents na alam namin na ang bawat isa sa inyo ay sinusuportahan at minamahal ang kanilang mga anak at buong pamilya. At ang atin mga solo parents ay katuwang din natin sa pamamahala sa ating lalawigan ng Bulacan. Maraming maraming salamat po,” the vice governor said.

Meanwhile, a solo parent and one of the Child Development Workers named Beth Santos from San Miguel town, shared her gratitude to the PGB for its continuous conduct of such event.

“Malaking bagay itong programa na ‘to para sa mga solo parent pati na rin sa mga Child Development Workers. Masarap sa pakiramdam dahil naalala kami,” Santos said.

The annual assembly is the initiative of the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
