Bulacan PDRRMO, BFP to conduct fire safety and prevention activities

CITY OF MALOLOS - The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office will hold various fire safety and prevention activities in line with its observance of Fire Prevention Month this March.

With this year’s theme “Ligtas na Pilipinas Ating Kamtin, Bawat Pamilya ay Sanayin, Kaalaman sa Sunog ay Palawakin”, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that the activity will kick off with a motorcade within the City of Malolos on March 1, 2019, which will be participated by the Bureau of Fire Protection officers and personnel, City/Municipal DRRMOs and rescue teams from local government units.

On March 4, there will be a launching and hosting of Monday Flag Raising Ceremony and Awarding of Prizes to “Ang Bote Mo, Kaligtasan Ko!” raffle winners while on March 8, a physical fitness activity is scheduled to be attended by PGB employees, partners from BFP and PDRRMC members.

Other activities include Orientation on Comprehensive Emergency Program for Children, Advance Fire Fighting Training for Bulacan Rescue, Radyo Bulacan Hosting every Tuesday, Rescue M.A.R.C.H. (Mass Assembly for Rescue and Care for Humanity) Bulacan Challenge on March 23, 4 am with a route from Brgy. Gatbuca, Calumpit to Barasoain Church to Mini Forest in the Capitol Compound and monthlong dissemination of information education and communication materials that will provide Bulakenyos with tips about fire safety and prevention.

The Office of Civil Defense and PDDRMO remind the public of the following fire prevention tips including befriend a fireman, ensure that the fire alarms and sprinkle work, practice the evacuation plan and participate in fire drills, turn off LPG tanks when not in use, hire an electrician to check on electrical wirings, unplug appliances and gadgets after using or charging, always do not leave lighted candles and cigarettes unattended, teach the children on fire safety and learn how to use a fire extinguisher.

Meanwhile, the governor encourages Bulakenyos to follow the fire safety and prevention tips not only during Fire Prevention Month but all throughout the year.

“It is important that we take note and do not forget the tips that were given to us. Kung atin po itong bibigyang halaga, hindi lamang po buhay at ari-arian natin ang ating maisasalba kundi maging ang buhay at ari-arian din ng iba. Lagi din po nating tandaan na sa oras ng emergency, tumawag lamang sa 911 o kaya ay sa Bulacan Rescue emergency hotline 791 0566 upang agaran kayong masaklolohan,” Alvarado said.
