CITY OF MALOLOS – The 37th Regional Assembly of Daycare Workers/Child Development Workers held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city today has not just been a venue for a meeting but also a place where Bulakenyo volunteer workers were able to showcase their talents, have fun and share their accomplishments.

Bulakenyo daycare and child development workers gamely showed their talents in dancing and singing while others cheered their fellow workers.

Director Gemma Gabuya of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 3, the guest speaker, lauded the efforts of the daycare and child development workers in serving the preschoolers despite having no benefits to compensate their service.

"We now have 4,175 accredited CDWs in Central Luzon at patunay ito ng mas tumataas na kalidad ninyo at ng mga pinagseserbisyuhan ninyo," Gabuya said.

She added that through their unity, they can further push their plead to the senate to pass the Magna Carta for Day Care Workers, which will provide security of tenure and social protection measures that shall be protected and governed by civil service rules and regulations.

Moreover, Jocelyn Rimas, president of the Federation of CDWs in Region 3, and Felina Victoria, treasurer, reported their accomplishments for 2018.

Marites de los Trinos from Aurora also shared their good practices in handling children with special needs and said that everyone can replicate their program.

Board Member Therese Cheryll Ople said for her part that being a day care worker is not by accident.
