PGB taps barangays as partners in program implementation

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Daniel R. Fernando tapped the communities to become partners in program implementation during the Barangay Summit held at Francisco Balagtas Hall in Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center here yesterday.

Starting of with the first district, 109 barangay captains attended the first out of four summits that is being conducted to discuss and narrow down issues and solutions regarding the status of dengue, rabies, road clearing and weekly cleaning operations, proper solid waste management and anti-littering implementation.

Fernando emphasized the important role of barangays, which compose the basic unit of the province, in terms of information dissemination and immediate public service.

“Sa barangay po unang lumalapit ang mamamayan para sa kanilang mga pangangailangan. Kaya nilikha ng batas ang mailiit na unit na ito para mas madali, mas epektibo at mas maayos na mapamahalaan ang mga problema ng ating mga nasasakupan. Ang barangay ay maliit na pamayanan na may malaking ginagampanan sa pamamahala ng ating lalawigan,” the governor said.

Moreover, Provincial Public Health Officer Dr. Jocelyn E. Gomez led the discussion on mosquito-borne viral infection, which is currently the main problem in the province wherein she launched the Department of Health’s enhanced strategy called “4S Kontra Dengue that means ‘Sirain ang pinamumugaran ng lamok’, ‘Sarili ay proteksyunan’, ‘Suportahan ang pagpapausok’, and ‘Sumangguni sa health centers’.

Bulacan will also support the observation of International Cleanup Day on September 28, 2019 wherein all local government units are expected to participate.
