Friday, 02 July 2010
CITY OF MALOLOS - A new chapter begins in Bulacan as the new governor and vice governor lead other elected local officials in the momentous mass oathtaking and turnover of position ceremonies held at the Capitol Gymnasium last June 30.

Newly sworn- in Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado is the 31st governor of Bulacan. He won the May 2010 election for the said post with his running mate, actor turned politician Daniel Fernando.

Executive Judge Herminia Pasamba officiated the oath of office for the provincial and congressional officials while Alvarado led the oath for all elected officials in the town and city levels.

In his inaugural speech, Alvarado urged his thousands of supporters who swarmed inside and outside the gymnasium to rally behind his seven point agenda for the Bulakenyos. These include environment, health, education, transparent governance, livelihood, peace and order, and history and culture.

The new chief executive said he will ensure transparency in all government transactions, further, he vowed to fight all forms of corruption before he reaches his first 100 days in the office.

“Ang katiwaliang naging tatak ng pamahalaan sa mahabang panahon ay aking dudurugin bago pa man matapos ang aking unang 100 araw ng panunungkulan sa lahat ng departamento ng pamahalaang panlalawigan.”

He also stressed his priorities in the protection of environment, citing that he will ban all operations that are detrimental to mountain ranges, rivers, and forests in the province.

Alvarado further cited his plans of seeking the authority of the Provincial Board to create an office that will look after the welfare of the Dumagat and their ancestral domain in Sierra Madre.

He also vowed to continue to uplift the standards for education and public hospitals specifically Bulacan Medical Center.

After the oathtaking of all local officials, Alvarado led allies, guests and supporters in the “Panata ng Nagkakaisang Bulakenyo” to signal reconciliation and expression of unity as leaders and constituents buckle down to work for a responsive public service.

Then, supporters of Alvarado and Fernando accompany them as they enter the Capitol Building immediately after the oathtaking ceremonies where employees and department heads of the Provincial Government jubilantly welcome the new top leaders of the province.

All winning candidates who took their oath of office are given a fresh three year mandate to fulfill their dreams for their constituents who entrusted the posts to them. ###
